Experiences & Entertainment in Cologne

A Romanesque church built on the site of a cemetery in 380 AD. It is famous for its unique oval, decagonal dome that has survived since the Roman Empire. In 1920, the church was granted the status of a minor basilica. Its interior is decorated with medieval mosaics, frescoes, and ancient artifacts.

This is the city’s main botanical garden, founded in 1864. Its central feature is the historic park palace (Festhaus). The garden covers an area of more than 11 hectares and contains over 10,000 plant species. Entry to the garden is free, and it is open daily.

The Old Town (Altstadt) consists of picturesque narrow streets with traditional breweries (Brauhaus) serving local Kölsch beer. The historic City Hall is also located here.

A historic arched bridge over the Rhine River, located near the cathedral. It is one of the most visited attractions in Germany.

Milan Madonna: a 13th-century statue, one of the few surviving pieces from the old cathedral. Gero Crucifix (Gero-Kreuz): the oldest surviving monumental crucifix in Europe (c. 976 AD). Stained glass windows: including Gerhard Richter’s famous modern “pixel” window.
